NotesBuilt in 1921, the Anna I. Young Alumnae House was the first alumnae house in the Southeast and the second in the United States. In 2009, major renovations to the Anna I. Young Alumnae House, were completed. Enhancements included updates to guest rooms, ADA accessibility and the return of the Tea Room to its original purpose as an event space. Supporting the college’s sustainability commitment, the building is the first project on campus to be designed for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the national rating system for “green buildings.” The house is expected to be the first LEED-certified building in the city of Decatur.
